Step right up, ladies and gentleman, and witness the “Greatest Show On Earth” — like you’ve never seen it before.
The 136th edition of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will roll into the Wachovia Spectrum on Thursday for ten days of rip-roaring thrills and fun for the whole family.
Amidst the clowns, trapeze artists and jumbo elephants that everyone has come to expect from circus shows, Ringling Bros. has incorporated a cavalcade of new attractions that promises to make this new edition its most tantalizing yet.
“Ringling Bros. has made a bold move in breaking away from the traditional three-ring presentation with one enormous performance area,” said Lara Toscani, the assistant marketing manager of the Wachovia Complex.
“This no-ring, unified arena gives them much more freedom to magnify the impact of the show,” Toscani said.
Another innovative component that Ringling Bros. has added to their latest spectacle is a running-away-with-the-circus storyline that ties all of the diverse acts together. During each performance, an anonymous “family” is taken from the audience and magically transformed into key members of the circus.
Those who attend the show may recognize the father-cum-ringmaster: he’s played by actor Chuck Wagner, who played the “Beast” in the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast.
As far as familiar beauties, patrons will see Jennifer Fuentes, the vivacious vocalist and former American Idol contender, add a melodious counterpart to the narrative as the show’s “ring-mistress.”
If you think this is way too much to take in at once, don’t worry: your viewing experience will be enhanced by a 24-foot LED video screen that will capture each electrifying moment.
“Everyone who’s been to a Ringling Bros. event and thinks they’ve seen it all before are in for an amazing surprise,” said Toscani.
“They won’t believe how all these new elements have been incorporated in this new show,” she said.”
